Import your data from CSV files

Import contacts, tasks and notes easily and free of charge with our CSV import tool

Our CSV import tool allows you to import and create the following elements:

  • Contact file for a person
  • Contact file for an organization
  • Tasks
  • Comments
  • Notes - Pin

Prepare your data for import

This is the secret of success for any CSV import.

We recommend that you use our Excel import templates. Once filled in with your data, simply convert the files to CSV format.

File templates available

For more information on how these files work, see our technical documentation.

Some essential rules

  • Always start with a limited sample (10 to 20 records). This method makes it easier to adjust the format and redo the import if necessary.
  • Each file must be associated with a single entity type: person, organization, task, comment or pin.
  • It is essential that linked files are configured in the same Laylah import.
  • Respect date formats such as YYYY-MM-DD, otherwise the import will fail.
  • Don't forget to convert the template to comma-separated CSV format before importing.
  • You can import several times without risk of duplication.
  • It is possible to delete an imported file in the configuration, but this does not delete the data in Laylah.
  • If the import configuration is deleted, all data imported by this configuration will also be deleted.

A pop-up window will appear, informing you of the success or failure of the import.

Your data will be available shortly after import.

And if it doesn't work

The first thing to do is check the contents of your CSV files.

  • Dates must all be in YYYY-MM-DD format or comply with other accepted formats.  Refer to our technical documentation in PDF format for details.
  • A unique identifier must be present in the "id" field of each file.

And if it still doesn't work, you can count on us. Simply write to us via the in-app chat or at support@laylah.ca.
